Despite of earlier anxiety, ATI’s new high-end part RADEON X800 PRO is gaining momentum in retail across the world. Right now the graphics cards are available in the USA and Japan as well as some graphics cards makers are preparing the push of their products later this month in other regions.

ATI RADEON X800 PRO graphics solution is ATI Technologies’ new product to serve $399 price-point, something that is very close to the company’s top-of-the-line graphics offering, but that is still a little bit less powerful. The RADEON X800 PRO chip contains 12 pixel pipelines with 6 geometry pipelines and is clocked at 475MHz. The graphics card itself comes with 256MB of 256-bit 2.0ns GDDR3 memory as well as D-Sub, DVI, TV-Out and optional VIVO connector.

Akiba PC Hotline web-site reports that certain stores in Tokyo, Japan, are now selling RADEON X800 PRO graphics cards from Sapphire Technology. Earlier it was reported that the first batch of the RADEON X800 PRO will retail in Tokyo only on the 14th of May. The novelty is priced at $477 to $537, which is considerably more expensive compared to officially recommended price of $399.

i bought my VGA from www.komplett.de in january; price was good, delivering as prommissed;

as an UKer have a look at this: http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/kl.asp?bn=10413
X800 XT Platinum Edition isn't listed yet; so you have to wait a few weeks more or buying a "without Platinum Edition" instead;

btw Sapphire is my favorite for ATI based VGAs;

edit: i found 4 PE / Platinum Edition now:

just a personal preference; surely you won't go wrong too with a card by ASUS or PowerColor;

not "Pro"!
"X800 XT Platinum Edtion" = "X800 XT PE" is the current top model by ATI;

So There Is'nt Any Other Graphics Card On The Market That Will Take The X800 XT PE.

Why Do They Have Different Company's Selling Them Example :

ASUS
SAPPHIRE
ATI
POWERCOLOR
Etc...

These Graphics Card By These Company's Are The Same Spec To The Ati One..
I Think Its The Same Card With There On Licence's Or Logo..

Correct If Im Wrong..

Peace

there is no real rival;

Why don't sell the descendants of Nikolaus August Otto all models of the Otto Cycle Motor? Why are they sold by Mercedes, Rover, BMW. Ford ...? :rolleyes:

yes and yes;
chipset and layout is always by ATI, but produced by Sapphire, ASUS, PowerColor ...

I See... So There Is'nt Much Different Between Them..

It's Exactly The Same Card, But The Company's Have There Own Chipsets Right..

not really

The cards have a similar design/layout and mostly the SAME graphics chip.

But they may have different brands of capacitors, resistors and most important, different memory chips.

So it is not always the same !

Its Typical for most computer hardware to have O.E.M. models of HARDWARE.. (original equipment manufacturer) strange statement of using ORIGINAL ... but it really means they customise or change parts to their own specs to make them their own brand by using cheaper or like master said use substitute components ......although this does not necessarily mean they are of poor build or quality just cost a whole lot less to Manufacture and retail :)
