       OK i thought it would be a bit hard to create a DVD video from an AVI file. How right i was...after much Pis*ing about i decided i would try an back up a dvd which i want to make sure i keep.

I go tru the steps of backing up the DVD using about 5 different pieces of software in all combinations i can think of. i used DVDSHRINK, DVDXCOPY PLATINUM, DVDRESCUE, DVD DECRYPTER and NERO 6.whatever!

I have tried Bulk-paq oranges, i have triet Ritek G04 i have tried Datasafe *****ers and that doesnt work in 5 DVD players i have tried?

HOW OLD CAN I GO BEFORE A DVD PLAYER DOESNT READ DVD "minus" R's?
is 6 months too old? 1yr 2?

I HAVE A NEC 2500A AND HAVE GOT THE LATEST FIRMWARE FOR IT SO IT CAN SUPPORT prety much all the DVD-R's im likely to use!

NOW I HAVE COPIED A COPY OF A DVD AND IT WORKED FINE ON MY OWN DVD PLAYER IS THIS A COPYRIGHT PROB? Bareing in mind my dvd played the copy of a copy...

I have just installed ANYDVD 3.2.1.1 How can i use this...will it work?

Here's a 'simple way' to backup a dvd.
1. Get a copy of clovedvd and install it.
2. Start up anydvd and make sure it is looking at your drive that will read (right click the fox in the toolbar and click settings, goto the drives tab and make sure your drive is listed and ticked. I assume you have 2 drives 1 for reading and 1 for writing).
3. Start clonedvd and use the clonedvd button. Point the program to the drive with your original dvd in and goto the VIDEO_TS folder. CLick the steps through and make your selections. Make sure the dvd writer is selected and uncheck the delete temp files (Then if something goes wrong the files are stored and just have to be burned again) Sit back and wait for clonedvd to do it's business and you should have a working copy.

dvdxcopy

You said you have dvdxcopy platinum.
Load it and go to simple mode answer no to the obvious.
Press start so it reads the dvd and then either ato write it or manually.
Thats all I do to copy.

To make a dvd from an avi I use ulead dvdmovie factory 7 and convert it to
I S O format and mount it on a virtual drive with alcohol 120. You could then use dvdxcopy to burn it which auto resizes or dvd shrink and instant copy.

By the wat I have had a dvd burner for 3 weeks and if I can burn dvd's anyone can ........"Total Nooob Me".....

However I have issues of my own at the moment......lmfao.
Maybe you could help me, its posted in this forum..... cya.
