asus motherboard

there is definitely no reason, but a problem could be some graphic cards (e.g. GeForce 4);

Greetings from
Duracell

I also ran ino trouble with installing xp in an asus board. As strange as this sounds had to seat ram and processer before putting it in the case then install went fine.

Installed it on 4 asus MB in the last week and I'm thinking about doing one for my self real shortly.:cool:

I had that happen to me when i first got my asus A7V333 over a year ago, basically it turned out it was very picky with ram. I had a mix'n'match of 128/256/512 sticks of ddr and it would'nt load xp with any combination except for the 512 on it's own.In the end i stuck them in my 2nd puter and bought 3 sticks of crucial 512 ddr and that solved the prob for me.

Haven't tried installing 2000/XP on P4C800 board yet (being the muppet I am, I left my install CDs at home before returning o parents for holiday, time to cue the parental taxi service)

On the RAM front, I am planning to install XP with 512mb Crucial DDR400 (in 2 256mb modules to use the Performance Acceleration Technology)

is there any reason an asus a7v266-e motherboard would not allow me to install windows XP?
The one and only reason I can think of (if the hardware is working properly) is locked master boot record from system BIOS.
