Archiving: Is there limit on # of files in one Folder?

Hi all, haven't posted in awhile.
I have 10,500 files that I want to copy from CD-ROM to DVD-R
My question is: Is there a limit of the number of files that I place in one directory?

I will NOT use the root directory for these files, but will have subdirectory in the root to place them.

I don't have a DVD burner yet, but have figured I can fit 38.1 gigs onto 8 DVDRs and eliminate the 61 CDRs I'm currently using.

I believe its the same as for CD's, thats max of 99 Files or Folders in the root directory but as many as you like in folders.

Thanks for your reply, I figure I'll have at least 1300 files on each DVD.
