I bought an I/O Magic 24X CDRW drive back in Feb. it turned out to be an A-open with JustLink. I've read that others got the same or TOP-G or Liteons.

Got a Hi-Val 24X CDRW drive acouple of months later that was labeled TOP-G (Top Glory Electronics) which I read elswhere is a subsidary of BTC. It looks just like a BTC drive and has the same MTK Superlink buffer under-run protection - which I've read allows writing to media only at its top rated speed at most, cannot be switched off, and doesn't need to be supported in the writing software because it's in the firmware. Haven't used the drive yet.

Also just got a Hi-Val 32X (this for free after rebates, the others cheap with rebates) which appears to be a Freecom with BURN-Proof which according to reviews is based on the new Sanyo BP1600P like the TDK veloCD 32X.

I've also read that some people get Acer or Benq drives in I/O Magic / Hi-Val boxes.
The drives I purchased were online in the USA.
