Anyone using Neto 5.5.9.6 get the "Ahead MPEG2 SVCD Plugin v1.3 For Nero 5.5.8.1" to work with 5.5.9.6? Everytime i try to convert to make an SVCD, nero closes when i click convert. Anyone successfully make an SVCD with Neto 5.5.9.6 using that plugin?

I don't know about other, but to me if you want to convert something like VCD to SVCD then I would say "forget it!" because you will never get RICH from RAG.

If you want to convert other format to VCD/SVCD then I would suggest to use other program like TMPGenc which is faster and does better job than Nero. Then you can use Nero to burn to CD.

And unless you have a fast system, and the file is very important worth MANY HOURS of converting.

I figure it wasnt worth that many hours, as a matter of fact, LUUVE, you hit it right on the dot, i was trying to convert VCD to SVCD, hehe, but i fournd it its not worth the hassle.

Are you trying to convert SVCD or burn a converted SVCD?
If you wan't to convert to SVCD, I strongly recommend DVD Decrypter& DVD2SVCD. Go to the DVD section here at the forum and locate the DVD to SVCD tutorial ChickenMan posted. You'll get superior video results, and the Nero SVCD plug-in works great for latest Nero version (5.5.9.6) My advice though is to go 1-pass, rather than Multipass VBR :D I've tested both methods and I get same results. By going 1-pass= saves much more time :D

don't pay attention to shoeb, if 1-pass was really better, than multipass vbr wouldn't be recommended. Some people can't tell the difference with the naked eye, while others can.
Ofcourse you are encouraged to try both methods and see which you prefer. Nothing against people using 1-pass but don't encourage others by saying something that isn't true (2pass/multipass is better quality than 1-pass).

shadow_phantom,
I've tried and tested BOTH methods and I see NO significant results on playback with my DVD player. If you're going to make a post concerning multipass vbr (4) vs. 1-pass, then please, for God sakes, post something intelligent. Saves much VALUABLE time via 1-pass and video quality just as GOOD vs. multipass vbr (4)
(A League Of Their Own) 127 min.:

DVD Decrypter rip: 10 min.
DVD2SVCD encode (multipass vbr 4) 20 hours:eek:
DVD2SVCD encode (1-pass) 8 hours :D :D

Sorry to disagree Shoeby!
4 pass is better than 3 , 3 is better than 2, 2 is better than 1.
If u are happy with 1 pass then thats ggod for you.
However the standard method for quality dvd rips to svcd is 3 pass.
If u do 1 pass the results are no better than vcd using tmpgenc and dvd2avi(Chickenmans tut).
There is a significant improvement between 3 and 1 pass encoding. Though 4 pass is only slightly better than 3 and is worth doing if you have time. (not worth it for me).
If u cant tell the difference between 1 pass and 3 pass it must be down to a limitation in either your tv or standalone or both.

dave,
I'm well aware of the fact that multipass vbr 4 in ChickenMans tutorial is the "recommended" route to go. However, I've tried both methods and I don't see a "significant" change in video quality vs. 1-pass. I save much valuable time m8 :D

if I were Shoeb, I would learn the deffinition of intelligent before posting again.
Try flaming me again and I will see you suspended or banned (I am the moderator here not you. Doesn't give me the right to flame, but does give me the right to correct or scold).
Don't argue a point with insults.
Am sure ChickenMan or any other person who has ever written a tutorial before will tell you or anyone else that 1-pass mode is not as good as multipass (it is infact the worst encoding job for most methods of encoding).

U only encode a movie to svcd once so do it the best u can.
Quality is everything.
U can do a 2 hour movie to 3 pass svcd overnight so time is not an issue.
The quality of your product reflects the quality of the trader.

Could you kindly quote me on this thread where I said I get better video results using DVD2SVCD multipass vbr (4) or 1-pass? You won''t find me saying such a thing. I simply said 1-pass produces just as good video& audio quality vs. multipass vbr (4) for me. Different strokes for different folks, what works best for me may not work best for someone else. I'm not endorsing the 1-pass mode here anyways. I encourage DVD2SVCD users to try both methods and see what works best for them.

This is not a matter of opinion it is a matter of fact.
3 pass is better than 1 pass. By miles!
The only matter of opinion is whether someone can be arsed getting a better quality end product by spending more time with it.
