hey any program that convert a VCD or MPG to any format that is smaller in size(example is a movie -100 MB in an MPG format, would be reduce to a 50 MB or smaller size in another format) but will not loose any picture quality and sharpness of the movie... were can i also download such program... thx.

well I'm not the gran expert that ChickenMan is, but as far as I know anything you will use will reduce the picture quality from the orginal source. Some may reduce less than others but there is not one app that can give you a perfect copy in a smaller format without reducing quality (or even making it a bigger format like VCD-->SVCD-->DVD).
However I think you can probably do what you want with DivX at the least amount of quality loss. Perhaps even ASF (hahaha lol) if you are willing to take the chance (but asf will reduce quality by a bit), but most don't seem to mind depending on the subject matter (if you know what I mean).

The only way to make a smaller than VCD file and retain quality is to convert them to DivX.
Install DivX Codec 5.02 (_www.divx.com or better still from our own site www.cdrsoft.cc ) and then latest VirtualDUB 1.4.10.
Convert the VCD's DAT file to a proper MPG if its not already. Use VCDGear from _www.vcdgear.com for that. Load MPG into V/Dub, set Audio to Full Processing Mode then select Compression and choose MP3 at say 96k. In Video, set to Full Processing Mode and in compression select DivX 5 and set a Bit rate of 800. Then in File tab, hit Save AVI. Done.
