any chance of a new section

Hello all

I know this is nothing to do with cdr stuff but could we have a new section for stand alone dvd players...eg whats a good dvd what dvd plays what....dvd hacks and all that stuff..i supose this has got a little to do with the movie section.

Actually thats a good idea. I'd like to know how a crappy little "Crown" DVD player could be made region-free. (Its my mother-in-laws !) :D

Sainsbury Model...

1. Make sure there is no disc in the player.
2. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
3. Press the 1 button on your remote control.
4. Press the 6 button on your remote control.
5. Press the 7 button on your remote control.
6. Press 1 for Region 1, 2 for Region 2, and so on, or alternatively Mute button on your remote control for All Regions.

To convert this player for VCD playback

1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray.
2. Place an audio CD in the drive tray.
3. Press the Open button on your remote control to close the drive tray.
4. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
5. Press the 1 button on your remote control.
6. Press the Index (1-All) button on your remote control.
7. Press the Open button on your remote control.
8. Press the 1 button on your remote control.

in the DVD Hardware section I know they already have standalone DVDs to use and recommended, however the hack parts don't always work. Majority of the codes you get out there
(like from dvd.reviewer) are for a small amount of players, especially since the majority of the players out there require hardware work instead of button combo hacks (67.224% actually require hardware work).

However there is good news on the horizon, it seems that DVD hardware manufacturers and hollywood might due away with the whole region limitations (all DVDs will be 1 region now *all region).
Exactly when and if this would go into play is hard to say, though predicted for late 2003 or so.

We'll consider adding this section, but will really be upto elpresidente (as he manages that section mostly by himself).
The new Forum should be up sometime this month I would think (with a few changes), hopefully with better sections to serve people with.
