I'm using the latest release of Nero with a Plextor 8/4/32 and WinXP Pro. Whenever I try to write a cd, it starts and then freezes at 4%. The previous version of Nero did the same thing. I know my drive is fine because I've used it with other software. I tried installing ASPI v4.71, but I still had the same problem.

To start I don't use NEROT, but I do remember reading something about Nero's built in antivirus. Make sure this is disabled if they still have this option also disable Win XP burning crap by right click onto burner select properties Recording uncheck Enable CD recording........Hope this helps ya bro!
