Recently, Sony reduced the price of PS2 in Japan, which had some speculating that another PS2 price cut for Europe was likely, especially with Christmas looming large. Sony have responded to the rumours by issuing a press release clearly stating they will not be cutting the price of PS2 before Christmas.
Sony added that the Japanese price cut was possible because NTSC PS2 production yields have increased, and it only brings Japanese console pricing into alignment with Europe and US, anyway.
With the popularity of PS2 and its recent price reduction in August this year, it would be surprising for Sony to consider cutting the price again, especially as the other next-gen consoles are offering little competition sales wise.
