annoying sound problem

ok ive ripped and converted andromeda 1.01 using dvd2svcd and its all great except for few spots where they would of have add breaks when shown on TV.
At these spots i get a rather loud squeal sound for 1 second.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

A bit more info please. What version of DVD2SVCD are you using and I assume your making SVCD's ? I also assume the VOB files on the HD play fine though with WinDVD or similar?

In the Audio Tab, click the small down arrow v to right of BeSweet line and change "Overal Dynamic Compression" to None.

i also have a problem... when i convert a vcd file (dat) into an mpeg file i cant barely hear the audio except for a squeal for almost the entire mpeg... ive use the latest TMPEG to convert it... i convert it into a mpeg2 and played it with the latest WinDVD... ive also tried to install all codecs from Nimo but nothing works... help plz...

Convert the DAT file to MPG file with Isobuster (from www.isobuster.com) right click the dat file and select "Extract but filter only m2f2 mpeg frames" The MPG file then will play the same as the original DAT did.

Ok I tried changing the Overal Dynamic Compression to None and the noise is still there. Tried audio bitrates from 160 to 320

ive played the vob file and its fine with power dvd
been using dvd2svcd 1.0.9 build 3 and also the latest 1.1.0 build 1c

any more suggestions ?

TIA

Your system is 99% now screwed up completely. NEVER EVER install all the Nimo codec if you want a system that works. Only ever install the specific codec you want, if you dont know what you want, dont install it.

Axis, is the squeal sound from PC playback with WinDVD/ PowerDVD or on your DVD Player? Or both?

I've just converted the Futurama Series 2 DVD to SVCD and they have the same small black screens where the adverts would have been but I get no squeal sound. Are you down-mixing the 48khz to 44.1khz? If so, try turning that off (I never downmix personally for better quality audio).

yeah i get the sound on the PC and my DVD player
I was down-mixing but i did try it with it turned off and its still there :(

is there a way to just edit the scenes out ?

What a bummer !

Yes TMPGEnc can edit it out for you. In the File/MPEG Tools/Merg&Cut section load the mpg file in twice. The first one highlight and hit edit. Them move the slider just up to the black/squeky problem area and hit the } key to mark the end of file. Hit OK. Now edit the second file and move the marker up to just after the problem area and hit the { to mark the start of the file. Hit OK. Now select MPEG-2 Super Video-CD (VBR) as Type, give an output name and hit RUN. Soon you will have a new SVCD file with no problem area.
