Am i doing this right? Ntsc/Film format to Vcd

Hi...just ripped a movie which when the vobs are taken to dvd2avi the info bar when playing says the frame rate is 29.970 but the type is 'film' @95%. anyway i made a d2v and encoded as a normal ntsc template in tmpenc.

To make the 84 min film fit into a 80min disc i decreased the bitrate to 1070 CBR and then encoded using Highest Quality.

burnt the disc but my standalone player pioneer 717 cuases a few glitches every 5/6 seconds. But on the computer the file plays fine.

tried burning in nero and vcdeasy at 4x and 8x respectively.

so where have i made the mistake?? or is it that my player needs the disc to be at 1150kbps?

thanxs for reading ppl

:D

** just check chickenmans tutorial: i take i have to choose the forced operation in dvd2avi....is this what is causing the glitches in my player? thxs***

yes it has to be at 1150kbps as vcds are very strict in standards. Otherwise you made an XVCD (which does not conform to all player standards).
You should just break the movie in half 42 minutes or so & you won't have any problems.
good luck

Two problems, you should not be in a position to actually change the Bitrate if you have loaded the appropriate Template into TMPGEnc. A VCD is 1150bps, leave it at that. Either burn the 84min movie to a 90min CDR, chop the trailing credits off to fit to an 80min CDR or cut in half to burn to 2 74min CDR's.

Yes, you should have selected the Forced Film option in DVD2AVI and chosen the NTSC Film Template in TMPGEnc. Then sweeping motion and fast action scenes will be smooth flowing.

Your playback problems are most likely due to you lowering the Data Rate.

Thanxs....for you help ppl.....i ended up giving the vcd i burnt to my m8 to watch on his puter! i think i'll convert it over again and this time put it on some 90min cdr's when i get them at the puter fair.

if anyone cares or knows the film was "Don't Be A Menace to South central while drinking juice in the hood"......LOL!:p
