All you Nero users having probs plz read...

Hi ppl

The following is a few thoughts about the current Nero situation and numerous complaints on many boards including this one.

Having been a previous user of Nero (and swearing by it). I have been converted to discjuggler. Why you say? Read on...

I use the V3.50.800 version and have no problems whatsoever with Win XP.

The final straw with Nero came when I copied 20 CD's for a friend on my Plex 24x CDRW and Plex 40x CDROM after upgrading my Win2K installation to XP.

All the CD's had been written on (I could see the usual burn mark) but when inserted into any drive, non (yep all 20) were showing no data although space had been used.

I have read in various forums the numerous problems ppl are having and yes I believe they are cracking down by blacklisting serial keys but I know it's getting buggier and buggier too.

The question is are you going to let one piece of software stop you burning? No... After trying various burning progs under XP I have settled on Discjuggler for my WinXP Pro installation. After 2 months now and burning over 500 CD's with it I'm happy.

The daft thing is that it's *easier* to use than Nero and copies far more things (Nero do bootable dreamcast...?).

NTI CDMaker is easy also but not a comprehensive and not even close to the features of DJ. Besides I can't stand it's teletubby interface too.

The only downside is that you can't create VCD's easily with DJ. For that I have Nero (5.5.1.8) installed on a seperate WinME install just to use this feature.

My advice is stop having probs with Nero and try something different and don't be afraid to change.

Just for the record also, I use CloneCD to sort out stubborn CD's and SD2 (yep Nero was stubborn with some too if not more). So I'm not hell-bent on DJ.

I'm am that trusting of it, I've installed in on my friends machines who have burners and not had a peep back from them.

These are just my opinions and think of them as you will, praise them or flame them I couldn't give a monkeys. All I give a shite about is burning my disks off with no troubles and thats what DJ does.

Have a nice day...........with happy burnin...

Hi bud.Welcome to the forum!Very nice first post!

There are lots of problems with Nero on every forum for sure! Most can be traced to blacklisted serials and keygens.Everytime you update Nero you take a chance. The best bet is to use the crack or serial for the version you have and don't update.Seems Ahead spends more time blacklisting than correcting bugs.Updates are usually just for adding writers and blacklisting.Ahead should fix the bugs in Nero and maybe more people would buy their program!!

DJ is an excellent software.Only thing is it can be a coaster maker for people trying to learn alll the settings.I used it for a while, and it does just about everything. You are entitled to your opinion, nobody should flame you for using DJ,it works!;)

Thanks for the comments Woody.

I just think people need reminding there are alternatives that do actually work!

You don't get if you don't try.

-yeah discjuggler is a good program

-however i have an issue (not nothing major though)

-i am wondering why from the day installed DJ on my system; when i load a commercial audio cd in the cdrom drive, when i open it in explorer the files are shown as wav files instead of *.cda files?

-before i ever installed DJ, if i opened an audiocd using windows explorer i would see cda files that would appear as 44bytes and if i clicked on em...the cd player would launch

-anybody else computer does this?

yup...

just 2 add. on thiz..

on many forum`s ppl. swear that clone is e best copier..

maybe there is some truth in that.. but in my mind.. DJ
kick everybody out..

so i wanna raise e following question..:

anyone who can state what DJ.. can`t copy????

Does DJ burn images like .iso and .cue/.bin if it does then im intrested to change, how is it in burning audio-cds ?

yup...

4 mp3 burning.. feurio or eac is clearly e best options on e marked... thiz also regard extraction.. sinse both are using lame..

when it comes 2 DJ`s extraction capabilities... hmmzzz..
it uses Xaudio compressor.. shurely not (by far) as good as lame.
(am not shure DJ.. have a built in lame option..)

but i differ. when it comes 2 DJ`s 1 to 1 copy.. exelent in audio..
if u on top.. uses a realy good media on DJ.. u get a HI-End
audio copy.. a real re-master.

thiz.. & e fact that DJ.. copyes (as Padus says: almost everything)
i do think Radium "rip" did know that already when they decided
to release DJ.. ver. 1. as far as i know.. the only pure cdr soft..
they have touched by magic. " the first app. 2 copy SD1
without any special settings..

exept on mp3 (feurio) & a good "backup/hybrid" app.
DJ.. is a must on every combo..

"NTI CDMaker is easy also but not a comprehensive and not even close to the features of DJ. Besides I can't stand it's teletubby interface too."

Tubebuoy resembles that teletubby remark!
And I respect an anomaly!

NTI is excellent for Data,ISO and Audio burning.
Yes, the GUI is *lame* but it is XP native (no ASPI
extras required) .

DJ has always been an excellent progie but I haven't
had the need to use it under XP.

Thank you for your comments as regards DJ. I shall
give it a try soon.

Nero 5.5.X *is* a mess! It even has probs with Win98!

If you MUST use Nero, try to find the old 5.0.4.4
This is one of the most stable burn apps EVER!
(don't think it works with XP but I don't care, I
use NTI with XP)

5.0.4.4 works FLAWLESLY with all Win9x/ME systems.

}---:)

P.S. NTI will do *raw* mode and more! (you just have
to poke a stick up it's ass to find it's deep dark 'hidden'
secrets). Use nose pluggs fpr this!

I had the same problem...then I found out it was due to these TDK 100 spindle pack disc sold at CostCo. They do not work on my burner. They use to work great...untill they switched the manufacture. Now I got @150+ that I can't use. It really sux.

My idiot bastard boss bought some of these TDKs.
I never saw the 'outer wraping' but the top of these
are 'clear' so all you see is the silver layer.

The TDK name is stamped into the inner cricle.

These *will* work but only at 1 or 2X! If you try 4X or faster
(I think they were rated for 8X?) "Fa-git about it!"

In any case, Nero 5.5x STILL has BIG probs! I didn't try the
2 new versions that came out last week, but I doubt I will
ever try Nero again.

I don't do video or games so NTI Pro is what I will stay with
until I have a reason to try something else.

For SERIOUS AUDIO I use the built in 'CD Arch' in soundforge.
