I read the tut on AVI to DVD but still didn't understand. Do I need to download all those programs in the tut or just one to convert the AVI. I have written DVD's before so that side is not a problem using the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files so any other help would be appreciated.

IN a word yes you need all the programs that are listed you will need to convert the avi's to mpeg or dvd format

The quality of one-piece solutions tend to variable - eg. Nero has a notoriously poor encoder, but if Nero Vision Express can understand the file to start with, it can convert it - other software would do a much better job though - other one-piece software may have better encoders, or may be equally as bad, that's why the stepwise apprroach using freeware and trial wherever possible (so that it's not dependent on what you already have) is generally favoured - and it often gives more flexibility.
