Are the MPG files in MPEG1 VCD format already? If they are not, Nero does not encode very well from AVIs, MPEG1s not compliant, DiVX AVIs, or MPEG2. Bottom line, use TMPGEnc or some other program to make your vids into the proper format - VCD, SVCD, DVD - before burning.
