removing subs

hi dont think i have explained correctly what i want to do is remove the bottom 10mm from a film this will remove subs or a screener warning etc only method ive got now is to zoom in using my dvd player and record the output on a dvd standalone recorder this clips the sides off the film and sometimes is not suitable

ie the resulting dvd-r will not have any subs or screening warnings etc
thanks for your reply

If you crop the bottom, then you must also crop the sides, unless you really do want it to look stretched.

You will actually need to re-encode, I would suggest using AVISynth and CCE. Once you have re-encoded you will then need to re-author. Seems like a complete waste of time to me, as presumably you will also be removing some of the picture when you crop.
