advice on -good- looking black cdr

im running low on cdrs and need to buy some more, but beofre i get any, i would like some reccommendations/ input.

my cdrw is an older tdk evlo 8x4x32x, so i dont need anything with high write speeds. ive been using tdk cdrs for awhile and havent had any problems with them (not sure the type, but i bought them at costco). anyway, i got tired of the plain silver, so i started using the gold tdk, which i also like, but i wanted black cdr. a coupel of months ago, i tried the memorex black cdr, and although they look cool (and help bypass psx protection :), i dont really like the way the lower half of the lable looks.

so, after all of this, my question is, does anybody have any recommendations on some good quality, nice looking black cdr, or, at least know of a trustworthy online-site where there is a nice selection. from my research, all ive seen are black memorex and black pny

one last thing, does anybody know if 650mb cdr are more reliable than 700. from the way i look at it, i feel that the extra -compression (not the right word)- invovled in making a 650 a 700 cdr results in lower quality.

firstly, the black CD-Rs will not bypass the psx protection. You will still need a mod-chip to play your copies. Memorex don't have the greatest reputation, so I would look for something else, though there aren't many good lables making these black ones (like imation & melody & others not so high on the CD-R chain).
However I have seen some verbatim blacks here in asia now & another brand I just can't recall at the moment.
As far as good quality CD-Rs, I would suggest you use silver & gold ones (like say kodak & tdk & a few others).
The last point, no there is no difference in the reliability of the 700MB/80min CDs compared to the older 650MB/74min CDs. The 800MB CD-Rs are a different story, but the 700s are great. So no worries there.
To make it a little more believable for you to understand;
would you say DVDs are less quality than regular CD-Rs? Ofcourse not, but they are roughly the same size, just different types of layering & sector sizes to fit more data in them.
Good luck, hope this helped.

thanks for the info, especially about memorex

by the way, i was just joking about black cdrs bypassing psx copy protection :)
