Adsl Router? Which One?

I'm going to have an ADSL line soon. I'd like to buy an ethernet router whith DHCP functions & built-in firewall.

Can you give me any pieces of advice on which one to buy?
I can go as far as 300€.

Thanx!!

Theres lots of routers available that would suit your needs, i suggest you read some reviews on this link - some have dhcp and firewalls, i believe.

i don't particularly like the linksys router that much. i installed one on a small office network and found nothing but bother with it. when it worked it was great but when you are constantly fiddling with it and resetting it it stopped responding for hours and miraculously worked again after some time.

i recommend to check out the competition first. the linksys has some great reviews but reviews are not usually based on continous assessment.

Hi!

I would prefer an SMC Barricade 7004ABR.
/me owns this one and is very happy with this router!
Works very fine, no Probs.

I have a usb dsl modem, and these people were the only ones I could find to support it with a router.

Linksys but...

Linksys are very reliable and are widely used but can be a little bit of a pain to configure. Searching their support site didn't help me as much as surfing the web. That's where someone had listed the exact instructions needed to configure this puppy.

Yes, I would buy another!

With ADSL, one factor to consider IS that many supplied "modems" are USB only - with ethernet to ethernet routers being no use.

If Ethernet is the connection, another forum I visit spotted a very cheap BELKIN router available from UK's "JUNGLE" - not sure if they also have foreign branches

I believe there are also combined ADSL router/modems - a useful answer if YOU are proving the kit if there's an alternative to buying/renting theirs.
