adding sub titles to mpeg

does anyone know how to add subtitiles to an mpeg? like i might wanna download some subtitles off the web, but does anyone know how to add subititles to an mpeg? if not, then does anyone know how to add subtitles when converting from dvd2vcd? i tried reading the tutoral but no help. thanks!

guess you're either not a good reader or lazy & want everything on a silver platter. The tuts show you exactly how with FlaskMPEG. However if you want to do it with another program it is much more difficult.
I have read somewhere that DVD2AVI has a method, but don't really recall it & doesn't always work (that's for sure).
I suggest you wait for ChickenMan to have a look at this thread, but I think your best bet is to do it with FlaskMPEG (encoding it yourself). Haven't had a problem with any anime DVDs so far (& they all require subtitles).

Once you have the mpeg made without subs, its all over.

You indicate you have read the Tut but is of no help. Can you explain further, does it not work for you or its to complicated to understand it? If it doesnt work for you, where do you get the problem.

Hi aimunregistrd

What methed are you using?
And what is going wrong?

If you what a very easey way to get subtitiles when ripping a DVD I have been using DVD2SVCD h**p://212.88.77.140/
just choos which subtitiles you would like the same for the audio you can chose 2 audios & 8 subtitiles but I would only do 4 subtitiles max as most DVD players can only read 4 on a SVCD.
This programe will make SVCDs not VCDs But they are beter but some DVD Player will not play them.

Swag Man

Not sure if it works (but... hehehe) try looking at h__p://doom9.net

I have a similar question and I'll try to be more precise:
Q: How do I add an already ripped sub file (*.sub;*.srt) to an MPEG2 file?

usually, for divx and mpeg1 I use virtual dub+tmpgenc and relevant plugins, and it works great (using frame server). However, Virtualdub cannot process mpeg2.
I don't know any other method for doing the same for mpeg2.

Thought of re-encoding the mpeg2 to mpeg1/divx and then repeat the process I know, but quality got significantly worse. After reading Chickenman's tuts (which were clear enough if you ask me :) , I still couldn't find a method that will "stream" the mpeg2 without re-encoding, and will just creat 'on the fly' a new identical mpeg2 (or svcd) WITH the subs.

Any idea?

maybe WinSubMux 0.2.0.2 works for you
go this link

w**.doom9.org/software2.htm#audio

index --> Subtitles

read the guides on w**.doom9.net

I'm sorry for my english but I'm learning.

Best regards
