ac3 and stream switcher for dual audio avis

Hi, im fairly new to all this, ive managed to make a vcd out of an avi file but this one im trying now is causeing problems with the audio. I can play it back in media player where it uses the InterVideo Audio Decoder and Morgan Stream Switcher.
When i load it into any other program to write it as a wav they cant read it. Is there any program that will? or any way to make something like VirtualDub read it?

Nandub (a re-written VirtualDUB, get it from _www.doom9.net ) can handle dual stream AVI's. I havent played with dual strem avi's myself but have a look at slecting Full Processing Mode for either track and then Save WAV... in File tab.

Just tried that, opened the avi, selected full processing and went to save the wav and it said :

"ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format"

Any ideas?

Okay, the decoding codec is either absent or "lost".

In Nandub or VirtualDUB, if you select for Audio Direct Stream copy, then hit Save WAV..., then what it does is rip the audio track out of the AVI but always gives the extension WAV. Rename to MP3 or WMA or what ever and try loading and playing in an Audio Eitor like Sound Forge, Cool Edit 2000, Goldwave, etc. If it plays okay in any, then Save As the file to WAV 16bit Stereo. Then use this WAV file in TMPGEnc for Audio Source and the original AVI for Video Source.

tried that, all went ok up until loading it into sound forge, then it said unsupported number of tracks (5) cannot open.
Is there a way to split it into two channels?

Yep, get hold of a copy of BeSweet ( from _www.doom9.net ), it can convert just about anything audio to anything audio and uses all the best programs to do it.
