I just call them (1-909-839-2480) and I got someone on the phone named andy. Well andy said in the next few weeks we shall see the new firmware to allow this drive to burn at 8x with - media. Which he said will be a free download. He didn't know the difference between DD0401 and the DD0405. 
But lets just hope they release the firmware. So I guess the site was right.
The Optorite manufacturer announced that in addition to its engraver DVD DD0401 about which we speak in this news , it was going to indeed reveal about mid-January "a true" model 8x., this one will be able to engrave as well media DVD+R as Dvd-r at the speed of 8x.
The good news is that the Optorite manufacturer also states to us that a firmware will be available for its DD0401permettant engraver to update the current DD0401 in order to equip it with the same characteristics. By simple flashage of the firmware, the DD0401 will be thus able to engrave to him also the Dvd-r media in 8x whereas it currently does not support a speed of writing of 8x only for format DVD+R.
With final one can thus say that it is extremely probable, but information remains to confirm, that the clones of the DD0401 of Optorite (in particular IISonic) will profit from an identical update allowing the writing in 8x on supports DVD+R just like Dvd-r. The "forgery" 8x of Optorite and its clones would then become a "truth" 8x by simple update of the firmware.
