A Mystery with Nero--expert help needed

I have been having a big problem with Nero (and other disk burning utilities).

About two months ago, Nero has lost the ability to burn images. I can burn data and audio quite well, but I still can't burn the images. My settings are where they should be (?) and I still can't burn them. The drive has been cleaned, tried to image burn in older versions of nero and though the computer thought it burned, it didn't.

Mystery number two: I have made a data disk using 99 minute cds. Problem is I can't upload the data back onto my hard drive, yet other 99 minute cds I have loaded right up. On top of that, the disk info says I have over two gigs on the disk. So how do I get the info back on to the hard drive?

Any experieced hardcore Nero users (or other DB program users) have ideas, let me know.

Welcome.:)
Well for anyone to help you they will need some more info.:) So I say for a start post your Nero history log file. Just leave out your serial number. :)

Well I would install ASPIs and do you have a log for one that failed? Did you just do a re-install of this programor or windows cause this log says
3:05:32 PM #22 Phase 37 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1841
Burn process completed successfully at 8x (1,200 KB/s)
So I'm confused.:confused: But you could install ASPIs and it could fix the problem.

Ah, but there's the mystery: According to Nero it's recorded, but when I reinsert the disc, it says it's empty.

I reinstalled the Aspis and attempted to burn yet another image; it still says it's burnt even though the cd drive says it's empty.

Now I know why all I keep reading is things like this:
"Nero 6 is full of bugs. Will wait till version 6.6.10.40 before trying
it again" Or people are say things like this:
"Nero 5.5.10.50 very stable."
Is it with all different brands of media?
Other then that Alcohol offers a demo for download try that and see if it has the same problem.
But may be someone else has an idea.

try something like < Isobuster > to preview your images, so you can go sure your images aren't fakes;

I have made a data disk using 99 minute cds. Problem is I can't upload the data back onto my hard drive
again a case for Isobuster, use it's ripping/recovering feature now;

Greetings from
Duracell

It sounds to me that maybe it's a burner problem. If you have access to another burner, install it and see if it works. Or you could check for a firmware update and see if it helps. Nero has its own ASPI layer so installing another one probably wouldn't help. Also, try updating Nero. It'd up to version 6.3.1.15.

That one means that you won't be able to record more than 80 minutes to any CD, and possibly not even read 90+ min. CD's properly (thru the Nero interface). Solution is enabling overburning.

Unless you try to record a (S)VCD, this burning mode you've picked is totally unusable for plain data CD's... use the defaults (MODE1).

Thanks guys for you responding.

Quick update: I can burn .cdi images on Alcohol--haven't tried nero images yet...

As for the 99 minute data discs...I can semi-load them on my dvd and my home dvd/divx player (of course audio and video only). That could mean I might need a dvd rom drive to read and access it....

or a newer CD-ROM or CD-RW drive;
another option: take your 99er discs to a friend with a newer (combatible) drive and "re-backup" your data in Mode 1 to 80 min CD-R there;

Yeah I agree. Wanna hear something funny? now I can't even write 99 minute CDs, LOL.

God, that's so ironic...
