hey guys
what is the difference between dvd+ and dvd-?
I sometimes get a problem with a burnt dvd where it sticks or jumps parts of the movie, I think this could be because the the write speed? if someone could recommand the safest speed. or it may be that the dvd I burnt was damaged could this affect it?I have a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S I use DVD Shrink 3.2 and DVD Decrypter 3.5.2.0
if anyone could tell me that was be great. Thanks

What media? more important than +/-, is the fact that it's a Liteon.

In their DVD writers, Liteon are living off the reputation of their CD writers.

Liteon drives have a rather small span of media they perform acceptably on, maybe lowering 8x media to a 4x burn would help, especially of it's the onset of the 8x zone where the trouble starts.

http://www.k-probe.com/ - Examine the burn with K-Probe (use the writer, scan at 4x, not maximum, or the tail end will be assesing the high speed reading of the drive, rather than the burn quality)

Standards:
PI, should be less than 280
PIF, should be less than 4

The odd spike beyond those limits may not be too big a problem, but exceeding them for more than that is a prtoblem.

Those are "Standards", not absolute limits, and the drive is not a precise measuring instrument, so while absolute values must be taken with a pinch of salt, the trend is a better indicator - if the rate jumps partway through, then you could be seeing a zone point - 4x-6x or 6x-8x
