7.1.1. Update Problem

First, let me say that I am new to this forum. I was not exactly sure how to phrase my search, so please forgive me if this question has been addressed previously.

I downloaded the 7.1.1. update. However, when I went to install the update, I received a System Administrator message. When I clicked okay, the windows closed. Since this is a personal computer, there is no "system administrator" that would have tweaked my system to prevent this type of action. My system has no problems updating other programs.

Bottom line - I can't get my system to update IC7. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

Hi acl36 and welcome to the forum!

could you be so kind an provide some more information please....

what os do you use ?
what InstantCopy do you use ? (StandAlone or InstantCD+DVD Bundle)
and with that how is the patch you are trying to install called (the .exe name)
maybe also you OSs language.....

You should double check the the update you are trying to apply is the correct one .......Cause what you described, is if no multiuser environment is used, is in most cases caused by the wrong patch .....

for IC7 StandAlone , you need the update3
for IC7 InstantCD+DVD, you need the patch to v7.06

both patches will update InstantCopy to 7.1.1 , but as they are from different packages the patches differ aswell......

Sorry for leaving out some of the pertinent information.

*OS - Windows XP (recently upgraded)
*Bundle used - InstantCD+DVD Bundle
*i am not at home at the moment. Therefore, I am unable to provide you with the name of the executable file. However, I obtained the download from Pinnacle's website (file size - 12.2Mb).

I will try to locate the v7.06 patch.

you're welcome :)

then this most certainly will be the problem i described above, since the Patch you will need is 45 MB in size, the one you tried to apply is for InstantCopy Standalone! You can get the patch that you need e.g. here : InstantCDDVD_7.0.6_Update.exe
