I bought Pioneer for 200$ and says reads/writes 4x speed, well I made backups of my movies, one Predator and it did COPY that movie at 4x speed, but my next movie Predator 2 it wronte at 1x speed ???!!! it took much longer for that then when it copied 4x, why did it do that? By the way I use DVD-R discs to write since Playstation 2 READS them and can play them, DVD+R it dont read.

Is there any diffrence if I record movies using DVD-R and DVD+R ?? or DVD-RW ? will my write speed be x1 only with DVD-R ?

Depends on the media you use. Pioneer only burns at full speed with media they have certified. To burn faster on cheaper or uncertified media, you have to flash your firmware to a modified version that allows that. Search this forum for "pioneer 106 firmware"...

Well I use DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink 2.3 and Burnatonce. Using this Pioneer 106, I USE DVD-R discs since my Playstation 2 plays them.

I believe The-poacher's crystal ball is broke this week so till he gets it back try this.
Use DVD Decrypter and tells us who the DVD-R Manufacturer is. In DVD Decrypter go to Mode => ISO => Read and the info on the right side should look some thing like this with a plank DVD-R in your drive (106) and make sure DVD Decrypter is looking at the 106 for your source:

Better yet just copy and past like I did.
Welcome to the forum and like ipdave said the search works real good enjoy the forum. :D

YES, ritekg03 are 1x media on a Pioneer drive unless you flash it and then it only writes at 2x. I would say you should go out and buy Ritek 4X Certified if you want to burn at 4x. Good luck

If you use 4x media I don't see a problem burning at 4x but if you stick with G03's you can only write at 1x with the stock firnware. Must members seem to think ritek media is the best with a pioneer, I belive that too I have a A04. If your in the US try media like this: DVD-R 4.7GB (Authentic Ritek Media) Bulk by Ritek. Good luck.

most probably in ur dvd-r batch, some r of good quality some less...the good thing is @ 1X ur stuff is well burned ;)

Yeah thats true, Im in USA, I guess some movies burn at 1x some on 2x some at 4x etc, cause Terminator 2 - Judgment Day burned at 4x speed while Predator 2 burned at 1x with same DVD-R, I dont mind it just takes about 50 minutes. Do you guys know why thou my Playstaion 2 only play movies when they are burned on DVd-R or DVD-RW only ? cuase i burend a movie on DVD+R and it didnt play.

And whats up with Flushing ? do any of u guys do it ? is it safe ? how many people use or did it ? did it screw up their drvie? if so to how many?

:D The term your lookin for is called Flash OR Flashing Its quite safe if done correctly. You should be able to obtain firmware for your drive (from Pioneer homepage or here.).this is software which most of the time has improvements for your hardware and media..

You can find your flash at:
The Pioneer Region Free DVD firmware page. That firmware wil let you burn the G03's at 2x or you can use Pioneer's firmware which will not. :(
But keep in mind if it flashes wrong the drive could be junk!!! Good luck.
