411S Firmware Update gone bad... Any Advice?

I just updated my LDW-411S firmware to FSOF. Upon reboot, XP detected it as a 'CD-ROM drive'. Now it's not even an option in any of the cd or dvd players anymore. It can't even read CD's (much less DVD's). When I try to uninstall it in device manager, it just hangs...

Any thoughts??

sorry, i'm not a DVDRW owner, but i've 2 suggestions:

1. update your chipset drivers / IDE controller drivers (look at your motherboard fabricator's homepage)
if this does not help, then

2. try to switch the firmware back to back to previous version;
