Evening all
As the topic says I have written a file patcher to re-enable the CSS ripper for All of the DVDXcopy RF series of products to date, and is attached below.
Some of you in here already know my work in the DVDXcopy range as I am the author of 321Gone!! (Which may I add is still not finished in my opinion!! ), which I have seen uploaded here. I hope you have made good use of it.

Ok so here's what 321RIP does:
321RIP! Simply adds the Ripper functionality back into XCopyRF by patching certain files to turn on the functions that have been disabled.
Now your RF version of Xcopy will work exactly as the older non RF version did.

How to use: Download the 321RIP.zip and extract the 321rip.exe file into your DVDXcopyRF folder, double click the 321RIP icon and click the Enable Ripper button. Viola! The program you bought now has CSS rip functions enabled and is now worth the hard earned money you paid for it.

This file is freeware. If you know someone that may need it please pass it on, but keep it free.

Any questions please post them in here

Regards,
PsiDOC

I could not agree more. Sadly 321 were forced to take this action by the powers that be. Now it's time to get your moneys worth.
I neglected to mention as well the RF Versions have no annoying "DVD Backup" screen, so it's worth upgrading to the RF version (free for legitimate XCopy Xpress and Platinum owners), then patching just to get rid of that!

Indeed very sad,but at least they had the courage to stand up and fight for the right to backup your (expensive) dvd's.Too bad it turned out the wrong way due to the corrupt justice system.
If they would have neglected that court order, they would've been bankrupt now....shame..:(

I know. :( Lawsuits on both sides of the atlantic. Even here in the UK when the claim by the "powers that be" were thrown out they just went to the european court that upheld their claim.
Well now with my patch the consumer has the choice. To Ripper Enable or not to Ripper Enable, that is the question. ;) lol

This patch will make the software interesting again as all-in-one solution, but can you tell me what happened with the official support?DVDXCopy Platinum or Gold are not listed anymore at their webpage, only DVDXCopy Xpress, wich is bundled with DVDXtreme.
Are the others not sold anymore?

The reason for no support of DVDXCopy (Non Xpress) which is in the Gold and Platinum versions is that, as far as I know they are having problems implementing an RF version, something I believe to do with Spanning the DVD accross 2 disks.
According to the official forum they are working on this and hope to have a "DMCA friendly" version of the non Xpress XCopy out soon.
You can work out that from a marketing point of view one of their mainstay products has now been crippled, so I think the Xtreme bundle is pretty much a lifeboat to keep them floating, hence the big sales drive about it.

Thank you very much for clearing this up.:)
IMHO,they should quitting support for spanning on 2 dvd's,especially now with dual layer burners becoming widely available.
They are wasting time if they focus on that before they release their updated programs, since no-one will use that option anymore in a very near future :)
Simply put: people who want great quality, can get that on one disk too, they use CCE and DVDEasy,DVDRebuilder or DVD2SVCD with CCE/ReJig.
Nobody likes swapping discs when watching a movie,it's just that with vcd, svcd or in the beginning of the dvd-backup era,we simply had no other option...:)

Agreed. I usually backup the movie only because I want the best quality backup I can and I am not really interested in the rest of the rubbish on the disc anyway! So for me Movie only = 1 Disc, no Disc swapping and no moaning from the kids!
I have an Nec 2500a that now has the Dual Layer firmware (2510a) installed so I am just waiting for DL media to filter through to my suppliers and I'll be letting you know how that goes.

Cool....keep us informed,as that's what this forum is all about:information to help each other to get the best results,be it backing up cd's,dvd's or anything else...:)

Unable to enable DVD Ripper

I am using DVD Xcopy Platinum 4.0.3.8. on XP Pro. I downloaded 321rip and extracted it to a file called 321 Studios which contains the Xcopy files. I click on the X321RIP icon and it asks me to guide it to the RF Xpress.exe file. I do this and then open it. The "Enable DVD Ripper" button appears. I press it. I open the program and once I reach the main screen I press "Start" to commence the reading of the disc. A message appears which says that the inserted disc is CSS encrypted and this version cannot create backup for CSS encrypted movies. I am obviously doing something unbelievably stupid as I cannot see anyone else having problems. I have tried removing and reloading the software all to no avail. I am sorry to bother you but I would appreciate being put out of my misery!
Many Thanks

Use the "simple mode" to backup your dvd's,it will launch DvdCopy Express...Platinum doesn't support ripping encrypted cd's....

I just cannot get WHAT is interesting about this sort-of software... do you like multiple intro screens which warn you that backing up titles that you don't own is a nonono? I really hate that, especially when freeware program do the same job equally well or better without putting in there any stupid nagging screens,,,

Plain and simple this dilema as scarecrow points out - Why pay big bucks for a product that is totally inferior in every respect to the freeware super software that is DVD Shrink?

I do not know of one single person that has bothered using any other transcoder once they have tried it, and now with v3.2 and the excellent AEC options that Dr Shrink has implimented you can even throw IC8 into the bin too. :)

I have to agree 100%, I just find it mind blowing the lengths you have to go to get an inferiour product to work in a 1 click solution (and to get a nagging first screen as well), when there is a far superiour FREE alternative as DVD Shrink. Shrink rips, converts and burns with no nag screen and pic quality that leave 321 standing on its head. Maybe its just me, but am I missing something here? Maybe its just the power of advertising.
