2 pass encoding probs

hi ppl
need some help..i 'm kind of fed up & discouraged.i'm having problems when encoding movies with xvid by using 2 pass encoding-2nd pass internal whereby u can specify size of video.upon encoding i never the the desired size,i get about 130 mb instead of about 700mb.
the funny thing is that i've encoded about 2 movies before, but now can't.
i used vidomi(hell slow),flaskmpeg and xmpeg(all versions).i've even read tutorials but ,still same probs.at worst,i can get c++ runtime errors when using xmpeg or flask.
anyone can help me or give me the correct config for this 2 pass encoding?

Really?? I have always found XviD to be incredibly accurate (with a few exceptions due to bugs). Are you limiting the quants at all?

Personally I would recommend VirtualDubMod or AVS2AVI to do the encoding.

Also what XviD build are you using? Koepi just released a new one today... You might want to try that.

well in my opinion ,it fails 2 do the 2-pass encoding well as the file got somewat corrupted.
i haven't touch the quants, had left them by default.
but with virtualdubmod,i can't compress sound
as for the build, its XviD-14052003-1 _ALPHA_ Release,i was using stable versions before but no success.
yesterday,i've managed to compress 1 movie,the mummy correctly,whereby the xvid setting was like this: 1st pass=2pass-1st pass ,and the 2nd pass =2pass-2nd pass-int ,using xmpeg5.0 rc1.

however when converting spiderman,i do get the size, but audio & video not sync & it seems upon doing the 2nd pass,it hasn't overwritten the output avi but seems to have append to it coz the duration is much more than it was supposed to be,having only sound and a black screen after the normal duration time of the film.

moreover,it is the same thing?say i encode a movie twice at the same bitrate as compared to the 2nd pass-int of xvid?

VirtualDubMod can compress the audio using any ACM codec you have installed, same as XMPEG or whatever. Personally I would recommend compressing the audio first and then just having it set on direct streaming.

XviD-14052003-1 _ALPHA_ Release, sounds like one of Koepi's older builds with _ALPHA_ Release added onto the end of the filename.

I don't recall having any problems with that particular build, keep in mind though that it differs from a CVS build in that it has trellis quants, different luma masking code and a few other things.

yeah ,when using virtualdubmod, will audio & video be in 2 distinct files or will be in the same file?

Well I guess that would depend how you are using it. The idea though is to have them in the same file. If you have video only, then open it and add the audio stream(s) to the stream list or if you have audio and video, then just open it, go to the streams list and set whatever compression that you want.

If you want a seperate audio file then you can save or demux it via the streams tab.

If you want video only then you can double click on any stream listed to disable it and then just save the video.
