107 Firmware Issue

Hi I have the 107 and I have flashed with the 1.10 hacked firmware that I got from a link in this forum. The problem that I am having now is I want to go back to using official firmware and I can't do it. Is there a way to make the drive update with new pioneer firmware?

I am having trouble with some media with this firmware but a mate of mine with the same drive but offical firmware does not have the issue.

From what I read you need a utility called DVRFlash, which will allow you to downgrade your firmware. Just keep in mind I don't have the drive and if you flash you do it at your own risk. With that said good luck. :)

As PC_Guy says, the DVRFlash is the flashing tool that can allow up or downgrading for the 105. Can even be used for the 106 & 107.

Thanks for the reply guys I am about to begin reading the helpme file that comes with the tool so I will let you know what happens after I do it.

Hope everything goes alright!

Thanks for all the help guys I did a dos based flash and I have corrected the issue I am now running the pioneer 1.16 based original firmware!

I think that the main issue that I was having was my HDD is in NTFS so Im not sure but I could not find the files I had to leave on the HDD.

All I did was put the DOS based flashing tool on a floppy and then install the ASPI layer and run the tools from there!

I tested the drive last night and am now getting a 100% ratio of successfull burns where as with the old firmware I was having 1 in five fail.

Very happy now!

If the patch is only to RPC1, then you WILL need a software solution as well to be fully region free, as RPC1 results in SOFTWARE region control.
DVD Genie can override software regioning in many cases.

Elaborate Bytes (former developer of CloneCD until forced to let it go abroad) also used to offer a freeware - "DVD Regionkiller" - the last version can still be found at reputable and disreputable sites.

Regionkiller apparently emulates a RPC2 drive in software, so the software happily lets the Regionkiller emulation handle the regioning (or lack of).

For some DVD-ROMs (and maybe even DVD-RW's), the better hack is "RPC2 autoreset" - or other variants, the basic idea being that it acts like RPC2 hardware, but doesn't count changes.

Why the hell don't they admit defeat, and let people play imports if they want to!
Even if you cannot beat hardware region control, you can work around it by having an extra DVD-ROM drive - in fact, I'd always recommend having and extra, CHEAPER reader, to use when you are not writing...
