Hi everyone.I am new in this forum and I would appreciate your help.

Is it possible to make 1:1 backups for ps2 (both cd and dvd based games) without modifying the console? If someone knows, please help.
Thanks in advance...

I thought that when we say 1:1 ,we mean a full copy of the original with all the mistakes (which are used for the authentication) that the original has.Anyway...thanks for the quick reply mojo8850.

Great page Nighthunter. It has many methods on making a ps2 backup and not only that, but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that the console still needs to be modified in order to play these backups (mostly the dvd based). Is there a method to avoid modifying my ps2 ?

Thanks for the kind comments :)

There is a way to boot your backups without modifying your PS2 console, know as the "knife trick". A search on google or something similar will return these methods. I would personally never advise anybody to use this method, as you are basically forcing the PS2's tray mechanism to open/close. This will see the speedy ruin of the tray meshanism and ultimately a useless non-working PS2.

Modchips are relatively cheap thesedays - a lot cheaper than a replacement PS2 !

I hope that this helps :)

I have also moved this thread to the Console Gaming section :)

You 've done a great job with your page psx_paul.Keep it that way...

In regard to the modchips,I just didn't want to lose the guarantee. But since it is one way road, which chip would you recommend for the modifying...

Here's the way I see it. If you've had your ps2 for more than 3 months then the warranty is useless so a modchip is helpful. The best chips probably would be the DMS, messiah, DUO, and Blue chip. They are good, out of those two I'd probably narrow it down to DMS and the Messiah 2 Pro.

you could always get a flip top for ur ps2, u can easily install that....it beats the knife trick and the slide card.

Getting an actual modchip would be a wiser and safe decision as opposed to the method mentioned above.
