With more & more dual layer drives becoming available, is there any indication of when the media will become available (specifically in the UK). I've got a Sony writer which f/w upgrades has changed it to a d/l LiteOn so I'm keen to give it a go.

This software seems to copy an entire DVD, removing protection/region and compressing to 1 DVD-R. Why doesn't it seem to get any coverage on this forum? What's wrong with it - it seems perfect for a novice to back-up their DVD collection!

I've heard that my Sony drive is actually a LiteOn in disguise :) Can anyone confirm? If so, is it likely that updating the firmware would fix my writing problems? (Movie DVD to DVD-RW is fine but not DVD-R).

I've now installed my 52246S. I've just burned the first CD at 52x which was a 62 min audio, using Nero 5.5.9.13 (bundled with drive) and it took over 6 minutes which I'm sure is slower than my old PlexWriter 24x Any help or suggestions? The source files were MP3 stored on my HD.

My question my be stupid but...... I've seen a post somewhere which highlights the min spec to include CPU Pentium 166MHz or faster, 128MB DRAM required. I've got PC133 SDRAM (half a gig) - is this really going to cause problems? :confused:
