cd burner

I recently upgraded my OS to Windows XP and also upgraded my CDRW to an NEC NR-7800a. Anyway it came with a basic edition of Roxio. I neither unable to burn a copy of a cd from the Windows "drag-n-drop" nor within the Roxio program either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
