      Neokey DVD-R Booting?

The Neokey booting tutorial didn't mention booting DVD-R backups on Keokey PS2s. Is it possible?

If not, does anyone know of an upgrade that could be plugged into the USB port? It seems like that would be a good idea.

Also could you use any other AR/GS/boot disc with a knife/card swap method to boot a DVD-R without re-modding the PS2?

If my memory sereves me correctly, the NEO-Key USB mod does not boot DVD based backups

If you followed the dvd decrypter tutorial correctly, then the problem does not sound like the burn. What modchip have you got in your PS2? What modchip boot procedure are you following ?

It is technically possible, but it involves jamming foreign objects into your PS2s tray mechanism, wedging the tray open, swapping discs, wedging the tray back closed, opening, swapping again, closing, and hoping that it worked properly. All the time this knackers your tray mechanism over time.

This is what the slide card/swap magic disc combo do, but in a "nicer" way (slide card looks nice).

In my opinion, save a few pounds/dollars/euros and purchase the Messiah 2 chip

I am getting the slide card, but from the way you described it, I don't know if I made the right decision of getting that or a soldered mod-chip. I just don't like the idea of soldering. I had, and still have, a soldered modhip in my PS1 and it did nothing. I got something called GameGizmo, and that plays backups perfectly.

boot up method: insert dvd region x, pwr, untill region numbers are on screen take disc out insert copied dvd-r and press start. i have tried holding down reset button (followed forum instructions) but it does not see disc and tells me to insert ps2 disc. i can not tell you what mod chip is installed. its allways played cdr's. if i open up the ps2 and look at mod chip could i tell then?
my friend has a neo 2.2 chip with ar2 boot up disc he has tried copying a dvd-r using dvd decripter and has got the same problem?

Question Auto3 Key dvdmode boot question

Newbie & hope I put this in the right place. I have a neo2.5 dvd key (at least that is what it is suppose to be, I did not put it in). It appears to be similar to the Auto3 key in that it has the same ps1 mode, ps2(1)mode, ps2(2)mode, dvd mode, & null mode -light sequencing & boot procedures.
Everything except the DVD Mode (PS2) works fine & as written. In DVD Mode, after I swap to the Orig. Ps2 game (with high TOC), the reset light goes red, & then goes Green, but not Blinking Green as it should or is suppose to.
Question: Would an installation/wiring problem cause this malfunction (strange when everything else works fine)? Or am I really looking at a problem with NOT using a GS v1.7 or 1.9 boot disk? I am trying to use a GS v2.22 (& not sure it actually is either). The GS lower versions have been impossible to find & no luck copying. Wanted to see if anyone had any expertise on that green blinking light before I have to open the console up & check the chip (which I may replace anyway). Not looking forward to going there. In the meantime, I will try some of the other mentioned boot methods, see if I have some luck.
      Help appreciated!

      Ripper 2 boot sequence

I've installed a ripper 2 into my v7. I followed the boot instructions from their web page and cannot get the chip to perform constantly. When I cold boot from power off the backup game boots. When I retry to boot from reset sometimes it starts to load and stops, sometimes it loads, sometimes it says no data disc reading and other times the standard ps2 please insert a ps2 format disc. Any ideas
