Place an image of the DVD on your hard disk
101
Put the PS2 DVD from which you want to copy into the DVR drive (e.g. Pioneer DVR A03).
102
Open the PrimoDVD application and on the opening screen, hit the button Go to Full Application.
![]()
103
With reference to the illustration below, right click the drive that is your DVR and select “Disc Explorer and Drive Properties” from the options offered to you; a dialogue box will appear as shown.
104
Check in the Disc Explorer window that the Source DVD is registered, clicking “Refresh” if not sure.
105
Click on the “Global-Image” button (105a) and then enter the path/name of the file that will contain the DVD image (105b). It should have a .GI extension. Then click on “Build” (105c).
106
The image will now be built to your selected hard disk location. When this is complete (as confirmed by a dialogue box), close the “Disc Explorer” window.
Burn the image from hard disk back to a DVD-R
201
With reference to the illustration below (201), ensure that the following conditions are TRUE: “Auto Insert Notification OFF” (how do I do this?); “Autorun Shield ON” (Menu item Options/General). Then click on the “Global Image” button (201b) to reveal the recording window (see 202 below).
202
Enter the name of your previously staged image file, browsing if necessary to locate it (202a). If you have browsed for the .GI file, you will see a “Track Image” dialogue box; select the desired .GI file and click the “Open” button; the dialogue box will close. Then DOUBLE CLICK on the DVD Drive (202b) to select it for the operation. Go to the recording window and on the third drop down box from the left (202c) select “Test and if OK, Record”. Select the speed (202d); use “MAX” if you are using branded media, “1x” for unbranded media. Finally, click the record button (202e). You will be prompted in s dialogue box to confirm that you wish to burn the DVD-R and you should click the red record button again. The Test/Burn session will now commence.
203
You can observe the Test/Burn progress on an indicator bar. As a guide, each phase will take between 30 and 45 minutes at MAX and double that at 1x speed. The size of the PS2 games is an obvious factor. When the process is complete you should see a dialogue box to that effect as illustrated below.
