Thread: MKV To DVD - How Long Does it take?

  1. MKV To DVD - How Long Does it take?

Just joined the forum. Found the Film Machine by accident and must say what a very good program it is.

I am in the process of converting a MKV file to DVD using CCE 2.67.

Just wondered how long this should take.

    My PC specs are

    QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200, 2333 MHz (7 x 333)
    4 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz)

    Windows XP Pro 32bit.

I have not made any changes to the CCE configuration.

    Thanks

  2. That depends on a lot of things. If you use CCE 4 passes about 3 to 8 hours. If you do a one pass Roba OPV (almost the same quality of 4 passes) then about 1 to 2 hours.

  3. Many thanks, what is Roba OPV?

If I went for a Roba OPV one pass, would I need to go into CCE and alter the pass rate to one.

I just use Film Machine, result was excellent, but when I put the files into the authoring program it complained about the GOP size. Would Closed GOP within CCE fix this.

    Thanks again

  4. You must click on the Options button and then on the CCE tab you can check the OPV Roba option. Also you can choose Closed Gops for the problem with the GOP Size.

    Good luck.

  5. Many thanks, I'll let you know the outcome

Would a $20 donation be ok

  6. All donations are OK.

  7. Conversion went well.

This was NTSC straight conversion, returned a AC3 Audio file of about 500meg.

However, I then tried a NTSC to PAL conversion. The video is perfect, but it returned a AC3 Audio file of about 250meg.

When it muxed the audio is running at twice the speed.

I tried it with Aften and Sonic Foundry Soft Code.

Just wondered if there was a fix for this

    Thanks

  8. Can you tell me what the framerate of the source movie is? 23.976 or 29.97?

  9. The source is a mkv - 23.976

  10. Strange then the NTSC to PAL conversion should go right. Can you post the *_info_*.log file so I can see the other properties of the source movie.

  11. Wish I could, I deleted the entire conversion folder - but just set it running again and the below is copied from the log file just created. plus a couple of attachments

  12. Nothing strange there. You could try to do the NTSC to PAL conversion with my new tool "TFM Audio Tool" which uses better techniques for framerate conversion. These techniques will also be uses in TFM 2.0. After the conversion you could place the file in the output directory of TFM with the same name as the audio file created with TFM and then do a recovery in TFM starting from the muxing part (if you still have the encoded video).

  13. Excellent Audio Tool - I've done the conversion and it returned a file of about 500meg, and when playing it seems ok. BUT I deleted the video, so I'll do a quick one pass and mux them.

    I'll post back with results

  14. After I installed the audio tool Film Machine did the NTSC to PAL conversion with no errors, I must have been missing a codec or something. But what I did notice on both the NTSC and PAL conversions is clipping on the audio. But with the audio tool there is no clipping so I'll just mux in audios from the audio tool.

Many thanks again for your time help and trouble, and for the Film Machine

  15. Good to hear.
