Thread: 'Crackly' audio on new version of the Filmmachine

As far as I know, the only problems with VBR MP3 audio is that it may be out of sync when encoded. But this can be sorted out easily in VirtualDub. So I dont think its the VBR.......

    2. #17
      Yes, you're absolutely right!
My VBR audio was pefectly in sync after a test encoding to VCD format.
The problem was the 'crackly' audio output...
Anyway, I do NOT want to go back to the previous version.
The latest TFF has a few interesting features.

    3. #18
Yeah me too. I love the program and the new version has worked for me so far, just the file must have AC3 audio. As for VBR MP3 audio, its only sometimes that the output may be out of sync. But thats been discussed to death already.

Its just this crackling noise thats irritating, and I'm afraid my technical skills are not enough to figure out the exact cause of the problem.

Ok, found the bug and corrected it. In TFM version 1.5 the "Volume" checkbox was selected by default in the ffdshow audio filter. Seems that this doesn't work for MP3 VBR files.

I released bugfix version 1.5.2 that corrects this problem. You can download it from my website. You don't have to uninstall the old version.

By the way thanks for the sample.

Brilliant work, problem solved! Just installed version 1.5.2 and perfect audio again. Thank you! A man passionate about his program, always nice to see!

      thanks again

      Hi folks,
All I done was edit ffdshow.reg to turn of ffdshows upto 500% normalize which is the problem here.
      "volNormalize"=dword:00000000

Off to get new version now, thanks The Mask

And again a very fast fix when it comes to quality. Great work for a great tool.

      Hey all

I have the same problem. (Just discovered the program last night.)

I have tried with a few different sources now, but all have some sort of static audio on it. Though it differs alot! The last one only had a little.

I followed the guide on the site step by step, and AM using the Aften encoder.

      Here is the log..

Hope u have some suggestions. (and thumbs up Mask for the program)

Ohh, and two suggestions for the app.. Leave an option for not converting audio to AC3, and options for chapters. Give me TMPGenc Xpress and DVD author with CCE and h264 support, and I would be a happy guy..

      Best regards Johnni

It looks like your boosting your audio. This is not needed on files with MP3 audio. AC3 is normally OK when boosted. Just uncheck the boost function, this should be unchecked automatically on the new version though...

Dude, I think u solve the problem for at lot of us..

This perhaps, should be in another post, but Im new to this forum thing. Can anyone tell me why re-encode with avi2dvd, TFM, TMPGenc etc all give a more pale video? I dont see any quality loss, but the colors are much better on the original. Thx

Now, if only TFM had enqueu options (or batch like options similar to TMPGenc) and u could edit chapters yourself, I would be sold..

      Best regards Johnni

Glad it helped, I dont have enough technical knowledge to answer everything but I can just give you answers based on my experiences thus far. The_Mask added a nice feature to automatically boost audio on AC3 files and leave MP3 audio alone.

As far as the 'Pale look' goes, you can try Canopus procoder. It seems to make the colour a little more vivid. Check this link for screenshots and decide for yourself.

Also you can add filters to correct the colour via the edit avisynth option. for a brief guide on how to do this see this post how to sharpen movie
