      Film Machine Newbie problem

I think the answer must be simple so will someone please put me right.

As soon as I start The Film Machine and before it comes up I get a message saying "The FilmMachine.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".

      I have CCE SP v 2.67 installed.

Tried a search for "The Film Machine" in FAQs but nothing came up.

      Thanks

Got the same with CCE v 2.5 that's why I changed.

After searching around I installed TFM v 1.4 beta and it seems to be working OK.

      Thanks for your help.

That would have been my suggestion too

By the way, you forgot to tell that your CPU is a Pentium 4

      Is this significant

Although I can run the program, I have not managed to get any satisfactory output yet. I merged 2 x 700mb avi files and wanted to make 2 SVCDs but the outcome was 1 mpeg file with red squigly bits around the bottom but the sound was OK. I read that this was an Avisynth problem so installed the recommended file in the right place but still get the same result.

Perhaps I should mention that I am running a 3 GHZ Pentium 4 with XP Pro SP2
      and 1 gig memory.

I was joking (well mostly joking).
The most important bug removed in beta 1.4 is compabillity with P4 Hyperthreading.

The red stripe in the movie means that you don't have the right codecs installed. You should have DivX, Xvid and a mpeg encoder/decoder installed.

Yes I have those 3 installed. I didn't make it very clear but I did not get a picture at all, just the red squiggly bit along the bottom and the sound was OK. The MPEG file was only the size of 1 SVCD when I should have had 2 SVCDs.
