Question DVD output size is always below DVD size

      Hi there,

I have been trying to convert AVI-> DVD ("Before Sunsire.avi") and everything runs fine but following the right passes in the program (I think), my output size is always 517 MB (I choose DVD (DVD-5 4.7 GB)).
I have tried the beta version but I get the same result, and worst I have already sucessfuly made 2 dvd's some time ago, and I remenber that I had another 2 avi's that get the same result (with 128 MB lenght)
Could this have anything to do with my choice of making only 2 passes with CCE 2.5.0
I will attach TFM.log if there's no problem:

I'm getting the same thing happening and what's really frustrating is that TFM used to work great. Now in the DVD folder I get the VTS_01_0.VOB and maybe part of the VTS_01_1.VOB file and that's it. It now happens all the time and I've tried both 1.3 and 1.4beta.

On both occasions I think the problem lies with CCE. In the log files I see that the free disk space before and after encoding with CCE is only a small difference and not the 3 gig or more that it should be.

Maybe you can watch the CCE encoding process more carefully for any strange things.

With DERODEO the problem is that TFM cannot find the second encoding window. Maybe you have to many processes running in the background.

ok , I will pay attention , and verify my disk space
      I'll report

      Question

I having the same result , now with 25 Gbs free space, and I can't detect anything strange on CCE encoding, but it seems something with that.
Only that it seems strange to me that Video strem file (MPV) ends with only 385 MB, but I don't understand this.

      ?

While encoding by CCE can you tell me what TFM is doing. Is it proceeding with other things then waiting for CCE?

Yes it seems to be just waiting , I have the second(?) window of CCE working and TFM is stopped (at least it seems).
      Thanks for replying

Can you make a printscreen of the time the problem occurs?

      Question

I've noticed that with a new try of another avi (this time 2 of +/- 700 Mbs=1.4 Ggs) i get the same (+/-) video stream lenght than with my last one (posted here) with just +/- 700 Mbs avi.

      is this normal?

At the mean time, I have noticed something odd:

The vaf size when it is being built never match the size in the encoder window.
I have attached an image , to show. For example the size in some moment on the encoder window is 274000 KB and the file in windows explorer is 2740 KB.

Well but MPV outpu file seems to be working fine until now , both sizes matches,
maybe my post it's stupid , but ...
Attached Thumbnails Attached Thumbnails DVD output size is always below DVD size-screenhunter_002-gif

This is a problem...i have different files from the serie bottom on my computer
they are not so long in time each..how can i burn them on dvd?..let's say 3 or 2file's..i have a little experimented with this but no result this far..how could it be done..? i say this because if you burn a file to dvd the dvd closes hereafter after burning and i don't now how you could burn more than 1file on dvd...

      Thumbs up

Can the number of passes, previously defined in the options (CCE encoder) , explain the small size of files (mpv one)?

I have just reinstalled CCE 2.50 SP , and check that I have 4 passes in the options (CCE) , and I manage to make a correct size DVD 4.7 GB

my files are different in mb 234 to 268 they are varied....yesterday i choosed 2 to 3 file's en set them in filmmachine..when the file's are not from the same codex or framerate en audio filmmachine refused them, now i managed to take 3 file's with the same framerate en audio en now it works..the one thing is.. i actualy work with Canopus Procoder en this is the first time with CCE..
I HAVE the 2.67 installed..my proggres is that i managed to make 3files for dvd now(bottom series) but the dvd is too short, i used 1pass in CCE..I CAN CHOOSE 6passes..but take 1 so they maybe fit..negatif(only2file's) yesterdayi tried to make 3 file's en played with the options(configurations) CCE en the quality is poor..maybe i gonna read more en experiment a bit with CCE..if it don't work i can always choose to experim..with canopus...or else i can always choose 2file's to fit on dvd so the quality stays good!!!

yes i'm a newbie newbie newbie..

My experience with The FilmMachine and partial creation of DVDs indicates that using Canopus Procoder instead of CCE solves the problem 100% of the time. I used to successfully use CCE too but for some reason it now always fails to create the full length DVD.

I had the exact same problem yesterday...

first i maanged to create a perfect DVd.. only then i realised i had put the 2 video files in reverse order so the movie started from the middle, then finsihed and started fromt he begining to finsih in the middle .. dooohh

so i thought : well no big problem I'll just do it again, paying close attention to the avi files order this time.

well it didnt work. once it produced the sdame error saying it cant find the second encoding window just like it did with Derodeo above..

      something like this:

Could not find second encoding window, checking again...
Still could not find second encoding window, checking again...

then i tried a 4th time , CCe created a huge 4+ Gb MPg file and nothing happend.. i realised TF had closed... probably crashed and now I'm left with a huge mpg file that i obvioulsy need to cut in some way into VOBs??
