I'm try to convert an avi to dvd in which there are a lot of high frequency lightning strikes and cracks etc. This seems to have triggered a great deal of crackling, like interference, in the finished sound (the pictures are fine). Is there any adjustment I can make to avoid this?
The original avi is good quality and no probs with the sound, only on conversion.
TIA

I think the problem is your AVI audiostream. It is mp3 with a bitrate of 114,44 kbits/s. You should try to convert your Avi to an Avi with audio which is not compressed. You can use Virtualdub for this.
On the Video menu item you select direct stream copy and on the Audio menu item you select Full processing mode, then save AVI with a different name. Make sure you have enough free diskspace. After that please try to convert your AVI again with The FilmMachine.

Thanks Mask. That worked very well. VirtualDub did the trick!![]()
this one really's is a strange one...the conversion of a full movie go's fine, but when i tried to convert a single serie file (like bottom) the encoded sound is tuned down(sounded a step lower) In the beginning i used tfm it was a case of trial and error..the one time it sounded normal, the other time not..
the Avg Bitrates (bottom):159,96 kbit/s (audio) (channels 2)
a whole movie (pinkpanther) :128 kbits/s (audio) (channels 1)
The videoconversion is good...
Try processing the sound using VirtualDub as instructed by The Mask in this thread. It worked very well for me![]()
Sorry, i did that..choosing the videofile in virtualdub..(1)video-direct stream copy
(2)audio-full processing mode....en then save as avi but with a other name..The result was after long experimenting that the file keep doubled from (audio)-159,96 kbit/s to 1536,00 kbit/s...when i tried it back to convert with tfm it was twice so long, and the result was as expected the same...i now i must do something wrong (but what!!!)
to be or not to be......where lies the correct answer!!!
After 2 days of experimenting..(1) did multiple tests with virtual dub..no result
day (2) running canopus procoder-convert file to mpeg-burning on dvd-result good (sound good)..but now a have to bring the subtitels in..experimenting back with virtual dub and also tfm..no result, they only accept the avi (tfm) and no mpeg (tfm-vdub)...then i had a wonderfull idea but before that i did a last test with tfm to see of the audio was correct..i saw on the right (audio download sample) never clickt on it before..started..after audio conversion
broked conversion of film..accessing programm files the filmmachine(output) played the encoded audio en voila there you have it sound was back on normal level...so kids the answer could be closer than you think!
