yes yes i know, but is this a good combination?
i only use the XviD_1.0.1 DivX_5.21free OggDS0995 and the AC3_1.01a.RC5 codecs.
never had trouble encoding/decoding any movies.
and as mentioned by VIPER_1069, don't do codec packs.
@mrgoolie a minimum i would suggest is DIVX the latest version you can find , AC3 codec , and XVID CODEC and FFDSHOW so you have suggested 3 of them
but not all avis are encoded with the same codecs so check them if they fail to play with what you have installed![]()
FFDSHOW have a problem with xvid since beginning..lol.
Also if you install divx and xvid-both are must-why you need for a FFDSHOW for??
On these two use also a ac3 from sourceforge1.01 a or beta-cant rember, maybe ogg ds too if you watch a ogm..But actually install those 3 and after that just what you need and when you need??
EDIT;This is a link for newest version of ds for ogg, flac and Ogg FLAC

I would not install the ffdshow, why would you expect a third party codec to decode better than the original codec the AVI's were created with. Stick to original codec and you simple wont have any problems. As stated above, install the Xvid 1.0.1 codec as well. Read my Divx to DVD Tutorial for the recommended codecs and their download sites. But then use The FilmMachine to convert your aviOriginally Posted by mrgoolie
