Talking How Much Hard Drive Space?

I'm getting nowhere fast. When I try to use the program it complains I might not have enough space. I left 7 gig on the output drive. It's not trying to use C: for temp files is it? I tried it anyway and 4 hours later I end up with nothing.

I'm curious to know why? With quite a bit of burning work I might be able to make that much space. Just trying to increase my knowledge.

If you select the option "Delete temporary files" in the options menu you must have 10 gb of free space.

Had a try and ended up with a 45 meg file. Maybe 'cause I'm using fat32. Just a suggestion. Info like hard drive space and file system needed would be handy to have in the instructions on the website. Might save people asking these questions here.

to do any real good with dvd compilations you need NTFS file structure as this can handle 4gb dvd files much easier

Thanks. I didn't know any of that. Is there any software that will let me change from fat32 to ntfs without having to remove my 15 gig of files first?

back them all up to 4 dvdrs as data dvds you should be at least able to do that with fat32 and a dvd burner

as for windows u may need to just loose that to install XP or WINDOWS 2000

    12. #12
I'm already using XP. I was hoping to be able to convert file systems without having to burn everything off first. Oh well I guess I had to back it all up sometime.

Q: Is it possible to convert a FAT32 Hard Drive to NTFS without losing all data on the drive? I like to change from FAT32 to NTFS, my operating system is Windows XP PRO, how can I do that? Without the lost of my programs?

A: Standard Windows utility that is called CONVERT serves this purpose

Just go to the Command Prompt and execute the command: C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs

Where C: is a name of the drive you want to convert. After machine re-boot conversion process will start and you'll have your FAT32 converted to NTFS without of data loss.

You'd better use some third party program like Partition Commander or Partition magic to convert to NTFS, as the windows "convert" format will leave you with an NTFS system using 512 bytes clustersize, which is very small and will slow down things ( 4 KB or 8 KB is much better). Unfortunately there's no freeware tool which can convert to NTFS on-the-fly AND controlling the clustersize.

I didn't see those messages before I went ahead and formatted the partition using format in Explorer. I did the ASPI thing and believe it or not it was worse this time, Instead of a 45 meg VOB file I got one that's a whole 52k. Who'd have thought that something that seems so simple would be so complicated. Below is my log file.
