This is the second time I'm using The FilmMachine, the first time I had no problem. TFM.log is rather short:
The program just seems to stop when it loads the audio conversion. ItCode:-------------------------------------------------------- - 10/21/2004 4:11:25 PM - AVI to DVD conversion - The FilmMachine version 1.3 -------------------------------------------------------- Initializing. Initializing finished. -------------------------------------------------------- - 10/21/2004 4:11:34 PM - Free on drive C: 18.18 GB - Audio Extraction -------------------------------------------------------- Extracting audio from AVI file Audio extraction finished.
doesn't freeze or eat up nasty amounts of system resources, it just displays
a progress bar that doesn't move from 0%. Also, the abort button won't
work.
I've tried monitoring The FilmMachine.exe and BeSweet.dll in regmon and filemon, but there isn't anything unusual. I've also tried reinstalling, to no avail. Any suggestions?

It seems to be the audio, I think it has a bad mp3 audio stream.

Here is the TFM_Avi_Info.log:

I think BeSweet has problems with the mp3 audiostream. You could try to create a new AVI, based on the one you have, which has PCM audio. You can do it with VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod.
