@thailand CAN you please post details of your system what processor you are running, what version of windows etc so we can help more with your issue

we are sorry that you are one of the few unfortunates that cannot get THE FILM MACHINE to work correctly with your system .... after all this IS a FREEWARE tool and is worked on as and when THEMASk has time he will be able to resolve more issues

THERE ARE a few bugs sure but there are many more users out there that swear by this program .... many more than what have issues or not being able to get it to work for them

EDIT ..... after reading your other thread as chickenman our resident dvd GURU suggested try gettting hold of CCE and use that instead of QENC

      Hello,

I use windows xp pro with sp2
      Intel pentium 4 -- 2.4ghz

      I hope you can help...

I wonder why XP users keep installing SP2. Although I'm not one of them (use Win2k), it's quite clear for me that it creates many more problems than it solves. The fact that there was a bunch of beta releases should speak for itself.

I don't know if this is the problem, but I wouldn't be surprised...

      Cheers

SP2 may well be the root of your problem .... on reason i avoided it

SP2 should of created its own restore point that will allow you to roll back to pre installation of it

      Problems solved...

      Install Cinema Craft Encoder..

      Everything runs smoothly.
In CCE i must press apply....
      Is this normal.?

      Apply... what??

Don't use QuEnc, it has a lot of issues. This is not the fault of my program. I can't get it to work either when I use 16:9. If I use 4:3 it works but could give some frame drops.

Best cce for all variation and all kind of problems..Use2.50...
Numerous people tested and some of those are very much involved in a video-aspekt of everything and it has been proven that 2.50 is the best solution...
Also im converting avis a lot to vcd-svcd and has tryed almost all proggys.....
dvd2svcd and film mashine are 2 best ones for that task-and i did convert succesfully more the 70-80 movies so far
And both developers for this 2 programs are recomending cce version 2.50 to work with those programs..You can read those help files or check doom9 forum if you think that im wrong
Its same thing as for Lame encoder..Even developers still trying to get the maximum out of encoder-in the current state of existing lame is very close to reack its peak..kind of like maximum which you can sqyeze out, recomended Lame version is still3.90.3 which is out for 2 years allready or even more...
And there are other tons of examples where you can see that sometimes newest is not the best
I went a bit out of topic....

      Unhappy

I'm using version 2.67 and it works fine for me, except 2 things:

First of all, like Thailand mentioned, I must click on "Apply" or "Cancel" when CCE starts and ath end of the encoding process, the program is asking if I want to save the project. This means that I can't close the Filmmachine automatically and so I cannot shutdown Windows.
