      Sound Problems

Hi I've just converted one of my movies and I've struck a small problem. Although the video convertion is great the audio has a slight flaw. While playing the movie, if the sound in the movie goes up e.g 'a song comes on, or a loud bang, a plane flying over' the sound crackels and makes a terrible noise. I was just wondering if this has happened to other people, or if anybody knows a way around it?

      If someone could reply, thanks

I had this problem too with some movies.
Back then I also had dvd2svcd installed with CCE 2.50 so I converted the movies with that sound problem with dvd2svcd.
I think it's something with besweet doing the first pass. I noticed that when it starts the first pass and it starts with a number below zero (-11.40 or something) that the sound is coming out crappy.
Maybe The Mask can tell us more why dvd2svcd doesn't seem to have that problem and tfm does.

      Jalo.

      ...

thanks for your input. Anybody else???? Mask??

    4. #4
      I think Jalo is right.

TFM is using BeSweet another way than DVD2SVCD. I use the .dll and he is using the .exe. DVD2SVCD also uses other audio tools sometimes. If you can post the TFM_Encoded_Audio.log, TFM.log and TFM_Avi_Info.log I can check it out.

I tried converting using dvd2svcd and had the same problems. Would this happen because I don't have the proper audio codecs installed?

I have some problems with the convertion of the sound for Ac3, the dvd's come out the sound low, and a little noise. This only appends with the movies that don't come originaly with the ac3 sound.

With some movies I have the next problem : sound 'runs' twice as fast
as the movie. I have'nt found out yet when it occurs . If anyone recognizes
this problem, please let me know.
The Video converting works fine ( CCE 2.5)

Did you do a frame rate conversion???

      Thank you for replying.

As far as I know , I do not.. but...
What I do , is the following procedure :

      1. If an AVI does not play with the windows media player, the file is recompressed with VirtualDub. The used codec : DivX 5.2.1
      2. Next step is : converting with TFM to DVD format.

These steps worked fine with a number of movies, but in some cases I can't get the sound proper. ( ie. sound 'runs' twice as fast as the movie )

What you are trying to do is make a Pal movie from a 29.97 fps AVI. This is not possible, because the audio is not correctly then. The gap between 29.97 fps and 25 fps is to big.

You only can change framerates when your Avi is 25 fps or 23.976 fps.
