Has anyone encountered problems after installing SP2, like the cannot find second window problem with CCE ??????

Please let me know because I don't have SP2 installed.

I've installed SP2 in many machines (more than a dozen), and I encounter this problem with CCE 2.5 (I don't use newer versions) on just ONE- I cannot know the reason, but on that very machine practically nothing works as it should after installing SP2, while on others I have no problems at all...
Sorry if this didn't help, but this is all I know for now.

I have 2 machines with TFM installed on both

One Is an AMD XP2000+, with Service Pack 1 and It runs perfectly.

The other machine Is an AMD 2600+ with Service Pack 2, and I am getting exactly this problem when I try to encode a movie

I am Using Cinemacraft Encoder SP V2.67.023 on both machines

If you need any log files or anything please let me know and I will send them IMMEDIATLY.

I think, regardless of the few bugs this program has, It Is a BRILLIANT little piece of software, up there with other fine software such as DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, and Virtual Dub

Some of the FINEST free software available

Im not just blowing hot air..........This Is the only software I have ever used that successfully converted NTSC Xvid with vbr to PAL without synch problems

That Is short of getting highly technical with other software

I cannot wait to get this working on my new machine, as I thought all those Xvids I had downloaded over the years, were ready for the junkpile, but this program has given me hope.

Any help I can offer mate.

      Cheers

      Thanks The Mask ...

But i think the big problem is that CCE SP 2.67 Not support correctly ATLHON XP processor with SP2 (include Palomino, Thoroughbred, an Barton) ... in some case it crash.... The Microsoft related a problem with Atlhon64, but it hangs with others AtlhonXP processors as well .

Maybe it"s related to DEP (Data Execution Prevention) feature of SP2. Several OSs have no-execute or execute protection. Microsoft has added this as well in SP2 with data execution prevention (DEP). This precents code execution in memory regions already marked as storage. This is a powerful tool against buffer overrun exploits. Did you try to exclude CCE 2.5 (cctsp.exe) from DEP?

Remember, DEP is only on the Athlon 64 processor, NOT the 32 bit like the Athlon, Athlon XP, etc....

I have had it both work and also have had it fail with the 'unable to find second window' problem. Unfortunately, I don't have the original AVI's for the working ones since I've cleaned them up after buring the SVCD images.

The one that failed had the following characteristics. (See attachment) I hope its some help. Anything else I can do to assist, please just speak up.

      Possible solution

Since I installed SP2 for Windows XP I've been unable to use The Filmmachine, but I think I've found a solution.

In any case, this is what I've done to make The Filmmachine work on my XP SP2 installation (AMD 3200+ 64-bit). Some of the steps may not matter, but this is the step by step guide as I performed it:

      1. Install The Filmmachine 1.3

      2. Unrar "The Filmmachine 1.3 updated components" (can be downloaded somewhere from this forum) and copy the exe-file to the folder where you installed The Filmmachine, thereby overwriting the 'old' The Filmmachine exe-file.

      3. Install Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.50.01.00.

      4. Install AviSynth_281004 (from here http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/a...4.exe?download. When installing the program, make sure to associate avs-files with Notepad and Media Player.

      5. In addition to installing AviSynth_281004, copy the AviSynth_281004 exe-file to your AviSynth folder (inside your The Filmmachine folder). Delete AviSynth_255 (already present in the AviSynth folder).

...And now everything should work again (hopefully!). Perhaps this will also work if you use newer versions of Cinema Craft Encoder SP - not sure yet, but will give it a go later.

      Good luck!

yup, this also works with CinemaCraft Encoder SP 2.67.00.23 - I think the whole problem had to do with AviSynth
