read only files copied from CDs

      Hello all,

Anyone know a way of stopping Windows from setting files copied from CD ROM to hard drive as read only? It's very annoying at times because although Windows copes with it nicely, try uploading them to an FTP server or something and the file access permissions get mashed and often they're set so that nobody can read, delete or even sniff them!

Well, since they are coming from a cd you can't really stop it from becoming read-only. A solution to your problem is that you can select all the read-only files you have copied from the cd, right click and select properties and uncheck the read-only box.

Remember to select all of of them and do this method, because it will prolly take awhile to do each one individually.
