      NotePad.Exe For WinME ?

      Hello Folks,

      I somehow (don’t ask – I don’t know how) I deleted my Note Pad .exe executable file.

      I am running WinME and don’t have System File Restore and wondering how I can acquire a copy of NotePad.exe for WinMe.

      If possible could somebody post a copy (WinME) or tell me where I can get a copy.

      Regards,
      Coaster

      Pokopiko,

      Great to see that you are still here.

      Yes I have the WinMe Installation Compact Disc. WinME doesn’t have System File Restore and I am unaware of how to extract NotePad.Exe from the Disc.

      Can you educate me on how to do this?

      Thanks,
      Coaster

      Or visit:
      h**p://www.pricelessware.org/2002/pricelesswaretext.htm

      And pick up a "Notepad replacement" that doesn't have the 64k limit - no more "file too big, would you like to open in wordpad?"

      In alt.comp.freeware (newsgroup) the pricelessware 2003 process is starting - it makes the warez/non warez argument here look like a tea party (ok, so I exaggerate).

      Personally, I've stuck by "Programmers File Editor" as my "large" file editor - it also handles both unix and PC style line breaks!

      It's in a CAB file is it not?
      You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today.They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine.'
      So that was nice.

      @Pokopiko,

      Thanks for informing me where NotePad.Exe was located in my WinME installation disc.

      I used WinRar and extracted NotePad.Exe from the WinME win_17.cab file.

      @LTR12101B,

      Thanks for providing information on the alternatives to Microsoft NotePad.Exe

      Regards,
