Installed win 2k pro on my system P 4 2 gig, 512 ddrram, seems to work fine but games like Quake 3 arena is too dark, and medal of honour to choppy, both worked very good in win 98,i did notice when useing msconfig that there was a lot of windows files running in background far more then win 98 ,i loaded win 2k for doing home movies, any body had similar problems ,or is there a way to shut down this ,server crap and network files.

Win 2k is not the best OS to use if your going to be playing a lot of games although its very stable for other processes.

Search the forum,I think there are some how to about stopping services which are not needed.

Try tihs link - its the best site I've found for explaining what Services are not required and what they do..

I use W2K for most apps I use including games and have not run into too many problems but Windows 98 is superior for this.

anyway, win2k is great except for gaming, even if you kill almost all services

my advice, make your system dual-boot with winsux98 just for gaming and everything else in win2k
