what's the best ogg/mp3/audio cd player for linux? I use one or two progs supplied with mandrake, they are pain in the ass, totally uncomfortable. that apart from the fact that my sb128 pci is not recognised properly by mandrake and music sounds like ****.

      Hello,
IMHO is the best player is XMMS h**p://www.xmms.org. XMMS is something like Winamp, supports skins for Winamp, and has a lot of plugins...

you are right, stupid me, it's included in mandrake, I overlooked it. very nice player for audio, but doesn't work well for mpeg movies.

One thing I wonder about, is it possible to play avis encoded with MS mpeg 4 codec on linux? I guess the only possibility is to change the header of the file from MS to divx and then use the divx codec for linux, but there are some differences between MS mpeg4 and divx and sometimes parts of the movies are not decoded correctly, if I use divx instead of mpeg4 for a MS mpeg4 encoded movie
