      Alrite

As you guessed im new here.

Just bought a +/- dvd writer looking to backup my dvds onto dvd-r's. Bin looking at other posts and found out that backing up my dvds isnt that easy...

I thought that i would just bang in my dvd put in a blank dvd-r and just click copy using nero 6. Ive found out that some dvds are too big to fit on a 4.7 dvd-r disk.
Are most of the dvds no bigger than 4.7? Do you think that i could just back them up?

Gonna take up alot of time and reading before i proberly get one right....

      Cheers

Welcome & as said peruse the tutorials & unfortunately
most DVD's are bigger than 4.7GB so the simple answer is

      Rip > Compress/edit > Burn

      The tutes will enlighten U.

      Greetings,DVDMan007!
If you were using Nero 6,did you try Nero Recode (Start>All Programs>Nero>Nerovision Express 2>Nero Recode) If so,didn`t you have any luck with it?
